Default Making harmonica dust cover with painted paper a fire hazzard ?

    Hi..

I want to make a cust cover for the lead screw and rails.
    About 250 mm x 350 mm, 10" x 14"
    http://www.9w2bsr.com/2007/06/made-w...line-mill.html
    http://www.ixen-cnc.com/

To keep it cheap can it be made with thick paper ?
Then paint the paper to make it stronger and more durable and resistant against liquid ?

But how about the risk of fire ?
Can hot metal cuttings or sparks set the painted paper on fire ?

    Is paint flexible enough ?
Or will it break on the edges ?

Any other suggestions on how to make a cheap dust cover ?

    Vroemm.

How I made my custom bellows for my mill.
Cut and fold a sheet of thin plastic (I used a blue (one side) and black (other side) aquarium back ground).
To this I glued cloth (from an old T shirt lol).
Finally coat the cloth with a layer of silicon sealer (I used black aquarium sealer).
It’s coolant proof, sharp chip resistant and works a treat.

Was also my first thought, but i assumed it was expensive.

    Great, should work.

Here are pictures of my first experiment with paper and painting the paper.
The paper i already had, and the paint is leftover paint like many of use have :-)
    Really cheap :-)

The can of paint had dried paint on the side.
I toke it of to see how strong this dried paint is.
Not good, it was hard, not flexible, and it broke.
I am still going ahead with this experimental dust cover, to see how it really works in practice.

The carton bridges are for extra strength.
Parts of the carton still need to be cut out.
