My Denford Cyclone Lathe has started making a loud buzzing noise. Opened up the cabinet but cant quite identify where it is coming from...'

It seems as though you are turning something on and off in the video to make the noise, what is it that you are turning on and off?

sounds like a fan with a broken blade, could be a pump say hydraulic pump that ****-the-bed.

    what is and isnt working?

machine can run? tool changes possible?

i am known as the telephone technician but any information from you will speed the solution.

lathes typically run hydraulics as soon as control IO gets power,

Sorry should have given some more information, I turn the machine on at the rear cabinet and some fans start up. then I press the green on button and the fanuc screen comes up. The noise starts when I press the green button again. Then stops when I press the emergency stop.

The machine has no pneumatic or Hydraulics, and aside from the noise is working fine, still tool changes and runs with no errors.

i check on your machine and quick-read the manual. no hydraulics but tailstock is air operated

it is a motor making the noise
    your machine has a few:
    way lube automatic oiler
    coolant pump
spindle motor could have a cooling fan added to it as many spindle motors need added cooling
    tool changer motor

    does your coolant motor work?
i am hearing a 1/3 hp to 1 hp motor making the racket , check for muffin fans that may be installed

unplug the coolant pump and re check

No tailstock in my machine so not that, I took all the panels off and think the noise is coming from the spindle motor, running the spindle doesn't affect the sound in any way though, Think I need to take the internal sliding panels off to have a closer look.

Found the culprit, it is this spindle cooling fan, no obstruction and it only makes the noise at high rpm. Are these serviceable or do i need to buy a new one?

obsolete item but this page lists the specs for you to find replacement

dunno if Denford is still selling parts

it is a nice axial blower , could just put a box standard blower and cobble a duct if you cant get a drop in.

I got a replacement based on suggestion from electronics supplier RS in UK, had to modify mounting plate slightly but it is installed now and quiet as can be. Thanks for the help.
