Title explains it all. Why is the nose of my 5C collet chuck threaded? Must have a function? My chuck is a power chuck.

Here's a pic. Believe it or not there isn't one single mark on it at all, so I have not idea who the manuf is. Also what are the two threaded holes on the sides for? They go all the way through.
Side holes are for oiling. You can thread short screws there to prevent from dust.
Thread on the back of the collet is for older type of chuck.

They have a cap that screws on to protect it, there will be a 2-3/16 x 10 TPI if it is standard, some manufactures are still making these 5C type chucks with a threaded nose Bison below is a good example
the screw hole in the side of your one is most likely for the Key to stop the collet turning
