you can get fusion 360 for cheap and it comes with both cad and cam.
Hello all,
Thanks for entering my thread.
We are looking for a low cost cad/cam software for shop use. The software features we need, drafting, 3D machining, translators for .stp. .igs, parasolid. If possible, the ability to work with native Unigraphics and Catia files. It will also have to be ITAR compliant.
Thanks for your help,
Randy

Finding ''low cost'' and ''Catia'' in the same paragraph is a bit humorous. But as Kyle said above, look at Fusion 360 to see if it will meet your needs.

I quite like targeted ads if they're not intensely annoying so I'll enable ads when your advertisers stop using annoying sounds, annoying slideshows and annoying animations
ZW3D Probably about $8000
It can open native UG and CATIA.
I hate Dassault Systems as a corporation so won't use them anymore (Solidworks and CATIA). Their corporate philosophy is to stack as much feces as possible on their small customer base knowing they have no choice.
Catia,,,,,,,oh man,,,,will have to find that guy on ebay ,,,,; )

Hard to make it low cost with 3D and CATIA in the sentence, but low cost is relative. I think your lowest cost is Mastercam with the catia translator. Depends on what kind of 3D you are looking at, the base version of mastercam comes with a ton of surfacing toolpaths - all of them if you are only selecting single surfaces to machine. Two if you need multi surface - most do. Parallel rough and Parallel finish, these get you very far.
Id call up a reseller, you are probably looking at well under 10k including training for the base version plus the translator.

Try OneCNC. Talk to Patrick from OneCNC west. The best support in the industry. The easiest 4 axis going. I don't know about the Catia thing, Patrick can tell you. He'll give you a great demo using your parts or drawings.
