    Default software workflow

I got a good deal on an old mydiycnc Bigfoot but need help with software flow. Right now I'm creating files in illustrator and the shop that does my big cnc cutting takes care of the rest. So I need to know how to do it on my own. I'm guessing I need to import the dwg file into cnc software, fit for material thickness and z axis, then export into a file fabcam can read? Any cad software recommendations?

    Thanks for any help.
