This thread will document the successful installation of HP UHU into service.
For me it has been a tremendous success though a bit late bcos of the learning curve.
Here is what I conclude :
1. have the right encoder cable (multistrand twisted pair shielded)
2. Have the right Powersupply (consider 10% + when deciding the voltage)
3. Use a resistor in series when using high rated power supplies for startup which get bypassed after a few seconds.
4. Get Big heat sinks and force cool them if necessary - or you will get drives faulting all the time.
5. Have a lot of patience
IT SURE DOES WORK!
I'm so glad for you. you've earned your success through lots of effort, sticktoitness, money & the willingness to ask for help. time after time. Keep up the good work. How's the customer base coming ?
I'm moving forward, slowing. I'm trying to follow your example of doing things the right way, waiting on parts when that's required. I'm taking advantage of everyone's willingness to share.
Tenmetalman. working on my BP Discovery CNC milling machine updating & conversion to the HP UHU drives & Mach3 software.
