Hi fellow NX users, Now we have our own forum here, is it a good idea to introduce ourselves before we get on to business. An introduction means his/hers experience, position held etc. This will help not only in knowing the members but also for the members to show respect to seniors. If you agree please reply here OR just ignore this thread.

| >> Do we need to Introduce ourselves or no? Couldn't hurt! ![]() I started working in a pattern shop at age 13. Building die models before I was out of high school. Studied Comp. Sci. at Tulane Univ. in the USMC for 2 years. Started using UG in '87 (V5). Since '90, I've worked for EDS, Unigraphics Solutions, EDS, UGS, & now Siemens. (Same job, just different shirts.) I support customers that use our CAM software. I develop posts, shop docs, wizards, tool libraries, etc... On rare occasions I still get to actually machine something. I'm happy to see that NX CAM has it's own sub-forum. Ananth, you should lead by example & introduce yourself too. (your idea!) ![]() See ya around

| >>Ananth, you should lead by example & introduce yourself too. (your idea!) Hello fellow NX users, I started my career as a Pro-E user 10 years ago and switched to UG16 two years later. Since then worked on all versions of UG. Worked for 2 tool rooms in India and Germany and a software company developing post processors for UG. Presently working for a german tool room in Sri Lanka leading the design department using NX4. Plastic product design, Mould design, CAM, postprocessors, customization etc. Jack of all and master of few.

Wow ! Look's like this journey will be fun ! I work for a major medical company, ( Night Shift ), in the southern U.S. We use NX5 here & are being required to learn it to advance our skill's. Only been at it about 6 month's but have been a machinist for close to 30 year's. Have a part time job, in the morning's doing Tool & Die & some Mold work using MastercamX2 for about 2 years. Will have a lot of question's to come , so please stand by.. Harold C |

| This is a good reason to visit cnczone more often. Finally a NX forum. I am CAD designer for over 10 years. I just retrofitted a small milling machine, partly because I wanted to learn about NX CAM. The machine is using EMC2 and works pretty good. So far I have spent a lot of time figuring out how to get things working fom design to machining. Some things work, but I have some real issues too. Maybe my expectations are wrong, or I am doing something wrong, or, there is a chapter missing in the documentation. Anyway, this forum might be helpful. Dirk |

Hey guys, I'm getting little long in the tooth, just hit 52. Started in NC as a shop supervisor, then ran 3-5x KTs mostly. First venture into programming was with a HP11 calculator (still have it) and a flex writer. The big step came with a Gerber IDS80 in the late '70s. NCL502 / APT360-370 for a spell, a little CADDS 4X for fun, back to supervision for 5 years and then back to programming, first UG was version 9.0, currently using NX4 and will move to NX6 later this year. I work for a company on second shift and contract at home during the day and yes I own (should that be have a license?) a seat of UG. For fun I fuddle with a little fab work in the garage, hit the desert once in awhile on xr650r (second childhood) Frank |
