NX Lathe Threading Operation Help Need Pls!

Hello All,

Firstly I stress that I am a novice with NX but am making headway.

I have am having dificulty with creating a lathe operation for threading.

The part is a basic bolt that was designed with the basic primitives and with detailed thread via modeling. Is this correct or should I have used symbolic thread?

Manufacturing was started and I have managed to create tool paths for roughing and finishing but am unable to create them for threading.

Could someone please explain the procedure to complete this task?
I have spent two days trying to figure this out and am up against a brick wall!

Unlike rough and finish operations you do not define the boundary to follow. Instead you select the crest and root lines. Think top and bottom of thread.
Then define the depth per cut and steps to achieve the depth. The thread feature in not used for lathe operations.

I would recommend reading the help docs.

I have managed to work it out.
The problem I was having was thinking one could translate the thread feature in modelling straight to manufacturing. I could select the crest and end but was unable to select the root.

In the end I selected the crest and end then manualy entered the depth and angle.

This appears to have worked.
