Well, we're jumping from NX4 to NX7. On the manufacturing side, I was wondering if anyone else has ran into this problem? Toolpath intentions: Pick out a fillet on a non-planer cavity floor, using a 1/4" ball endmill. In Fixed Contour setting up a open boundry with mulitple stepover's (boundry is tangent to a cavity wall). On the engage, I set OPEN AREA at .100 plunge, and set Against Part/Check at NONE. (part geometry is body) But graphics are showing the engage and retract starting/ending .100 above the cavity wall. (If the cavity wall is 3" tall the engage/retract move is 3.100" I want the tool to engage .100 above the cavity floor. Any thoughts?? Last edited by Rumm64; 03-01-2010 at 01:16 PM. |

| Yes, this post may qualify as thread necromancy ![]() Another setting that may affect the engages/retracts is cutting-clearances-part safe clearance. I cannot tell from the image if the floor is flat or not. If it is flat, another operation that may work well for you is z-level profile and set the cut level to optimized. I use it a lot with great results.
