These would be the motors I would look at but then I would need new PSUs... Hard to justify when I haven't really even made anything with the CNC so far. https://www.aliexpress.com/store/pro...607991106.html

I think for now I will just up the amps and reduce the microsteps like suggested and ponder bigger motors once I actually start using the CNC.

Just wondering since voltage limits speed, would changing the Y and Z PSU to 48v like the X axis give me equal speed on both axis, because that would only cost me about $50 to upgrade the PSU?

Alternately I could wire up the Y axis controller to the 48v PSU if it would support 3 motors.

The S-350-48 (far right column is the one I bought) https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free...565340633.html

I would not buy those motors. You want something with an inductance closer to 2 or 3. The lower the better, if you want more speed.

Since I would have to change motor, controller and PSU. It probably would be a good time to go servo, can you recommend a good / cheap servo setup?

What do you think of upping the voltage?

I also note I have switch 4 off / half current so probably should put that to on / full current.

No, that'll just make the motor run hotter. It only goes to half current when the motor is not spinning.

I just bought a DMM 400w servo and drive for testing, but I haven't tried it yet. They were about $400. You can get a similar Leadshine for about $570. Expect to spend another $100 on cables. You'll want some type of reduction between the servo and ballscrew. Most use a belt reduction

I need some more things before I can wire it up and test it, as well as my new UB1 breakout board, which I won't have for another two weeks or so.

What kind of performance are you looking for?

That's the great unknown. I would like to be able to cut at a genuine 4000mm / min in ply.

Since I have just bought the UC300ETH-5LPT to replace my UC100 I will be very keen to see how you make out with the UB1 when you get it.
