I was looking for a BOB 100% compatible to use with UCCNC, I was looking for info about the PDMx-126 ( was my first choice to try...) and i came to this post.... Very nice card I will order mine ASAP.
Are the leadshine drivers DM870 working with this? or the equivalent cheap chinese drivers??
I'm using leadshine AM882's with the UB1, and they work fine.

Gentlemen: I've searched the world over, sort of. I wanted to ask this in the CNCRoom forum but ran into a language barrier. I am 95% complete on my build and seem to be stuck on the safety / home / limit / charge pump theory with the UB1.
I'm using the following,
UCCNC
UC300ETH and the UB1 BOB
KL-5056E Drives, Automation Technologies (Keling), with ENA+ and ENA- inputs.
Proximity Switches (PNP) ( I must have 2 dozen I got from a piece of equipment that was built and then sold for scrap ! ) (have to use pull down res to invert function)
Rack and Pinion (unknown ratio, believe to be metric)
10 to 1 gear boxes on X and Y, (A slaved to X).
Nema 23 motors, Moons 3.5A stepper motors.
4th rotary axis in near future.
After countless hours of research I have found I'm not much closer to deciding on the best way to implement this and could use (appreciate) some advice.
As I understand it.......!
Before the UB1, "I think" I would have used the 5LPT BOB, I believe I would have used 7 proximity switches on separate inputs and let the software treat them as both home and limit switches. I again think !!, I would have used the charge pump the enable the drives on the ENA+ input.
The UB1 has the option of using the first group of inputs (X103-X110) as a safety circuit, OSSD (Output Signal Switching Device) which has several desirable features. My thinking is that I should do this by using 7 proximity switches and then use the corresponding OSSD output to trigger the ENA+ input on the drives.?
Since I have to solder or de-solder a bridge under the board to make these inputs part of the safety circuit, I wonder if i lose the (Home function) of the proximity switches and would need to add 7 more have the ability to home the machine ?
If I then need 7 more proximity switches for (Home) function, can they be series strung electrically to get Home function back ? Or, add a small BOB to LPT4 header have enough inputs for a rainy day ?
The other thought is what to do with the Charge Pump output, send it back in on one the safety circuit inputs ? The Charge Pump signal can be sent to relay K3 also.
This is my first CNC and it's been a blast designing and building the machine but this is giving me a headache....

My personal opinion, is that you don't need to bother with the Enable lines. Steppers will only move when the drives are receiving step signals. If you hit the Estop, or Limit switches, the machine will stop.
I don't think that you can share your home and limits and still use the safety circuit, as the circuit will be triggered when you home the machine.
Again, my opinion, but with a stepper machine, I don't think that you need to bother with the safety circuit at all. Just put each switch on it's own input pin, and assign them to both home and limits.
Generally, the charge pump is used to prevent powering up the machine. The charge pump is part of a safety cicuit for a relay or contactor, so that you can't power up the machine until the software is running.

I was having the same questions with my UB1...currently i have a contactor with a manual switch connected to the coil circuit to enable o disable the power to the drivers.
How can i connect the Chargepump to the contactor??? it will be great to have the CP in series with the manual switch for extra security as you said.
I picked up a safety relay on Ebay, and use that to enable the contactor. I use the charge pump to activate a small relay, and have my estop circuit run through that relay, so that you can't enable the safety relay without the charge pump, or if an Estop is pressed. The Estop circuit must be closed to enable the safety relay.

So you have connected in series your Estop and the charge pump? how do you configure that in UCCNC?? i have my estop at X103 input...
For a small reley, can i use i simple Arduino relay (it says it is 5v, but the UB1 has some 5volts next to the 24v power input.
So it will be CP to Estop to Arduino relay, and the load for the arduino realy controling the contactor coil?

I use an E-Stop with two sets of contacts, so there are two E-Stop circuits.

Have the contactor coil circuit run through the both the relay controlled by the charge pump and one set of contacts on the Estop. The other contacts on the Estop go to an input on the UB1

It has DC+ DC- IN1 IN2. i have not clear what do i need to connect to the UB1... IN1 TO CP??? 24v to DC+ and DC- to 0V??

I'm using a similar 8 channel relay.
DC+ and DC- go to your 24V power supply.
CP on the UB1 to IN1 on the breakout board.
Then run your circuit through NO1 and COM1

Can a MPG pendant be wired into this board?
An MPG, yes.
A pendant? Depends.
Most pendants use USB connections and plugins to interface with UCCNC.
But if you were to build one that used regular inputs for the switches, then yes.

I am just getting into the UCCNC world, have been using Mach3 for many years
I am thinking of the MPG2 Pendant from CNC4PC only because that is what I am currently using on 3 of my machines now and used to working with them. It does require a adaptor board to work with Mach3, not sure if the same setup will work with UCCNC?
Could the same setup be implemented with the UB1?
I have tried the USB pendants in the past with poor results (noise on the USB side), reluctant to go that route again, but that was with Mach3
Looking at the info on CNC4PC's website, yes, it looks like it could be wired to the UB1. I think that with the UD-4 daughterboard, you could just plug it in.
However, it looks like that pendant requires Mach3 Brains or a plugin to make it work.
To use it in UCCNC, you'd need to duplicate the Brains functions with macroloops, or a UCCNC plugin. So out of the box, it wouldn't work with UCCNC.

Just an FYI, the VistaCNC pendants work fantastic with UCCNC. You have to do a firmware update, but having the P2-S pendant on my mill is absolutely invaluable. Has all of your normal pendant function along with feed override, speed override, program start/stop/pause/resume, spindle stop/start, all of your modes like incremental and continuous. All plugs right in to USB and enable the plugin on the control panel in UCCNC. Following directions on VistaCNC website for firmware update. Also, if you buy it via Amazon, it's actually cheaper than buying straight from VistaCNC (which is odd since it's their store and ships from them). Anyway, it's not a cheap pendant, but well worth the price. Love have a real MPG with the click feel to it also. Sorry for the sales pitch here, I just love mine!
