Hi trying to setup my sherline 5410 mill useing Turbocnc 4 any one know what size the sherline leadscrew is also trying to work out steps per inch for the motion scale calc i am running 1.8 deg stepper motors in 1/8 step on controller any help would be greatfull thanks guys |

| Measure the handwheel turns per distance traveled for each head piece if you have wheels mounted. This should get it close. Otherwise I guess contacting sherline for a description of the leadscrews shipped would be the way.... |

| I have heard that the Sherline mill feedscrew is 20 TPI. There's a small button that says "Calc" next to the step size in the dialog for axis setup. If you click this, a little window pops up that lets you enter TPI, steps/rev, microstepping, etc and it figures it out for you. If you want to do it longhand: Start with the number 1. Divide by TPI (20?). Divide by steps/rev (200) Divide by microstep ratio (8) Divide by gear ratio (1 for no reduction) So about 0.00003125" per step or so... |
