Hey guys, I just installed turbocnc on my computer running my cnc. its pretty nice but I cannot get it to home my Z axis, its the only one with a switch. I set it up in the IO config.
I also had my steppers pushing 120ipm
they couldnt handle it all the way though.

To which pin is the switch connected? I ask because I could not get pin #1 to behave; switched over to an input pin (#10) and all's well...![]()

make SURE you have the direction and sense properly set up. This can be tricky and may take "playing" with. Use the "Ports display" F2 and try manually tripping the switch to verify that works (or use "Active Ports display" Alt F2). Then if you see activity there, play with the direction and sense settings in the ini.
It does work, as I have three axis working on home.

hey, its on pin 10, Im sure its that I need the new hotfix, I have it downloaded just not installed yet. I had it homing in the older version of turbocnc.

I had that problem when I went from 3.x to 4.x and as I remember, it WAS a sense change that was needed in the ini due to changes in the way the lines are handled in 4.x. They changed the coding on some of the lines to staighten out the natural inversion of some lines.
I would imagine that right now, the table moves to the switch and stops (no reversal). If that is what you are seeing, try changine the sense on the line Active high instead of Active low or the reverse and see what happens.

I recently upgraded my drive box and everything on my mill, new computer(motherboard and hard drive) and I am now having problems homing again, I installed the fix, I took the INI off my laptop that was running, hooked everything up good and the machine will home, but sometimes it will just stop randomly, not completely homed, so I have to home again, sometimes it goes an inch, sometimes half an inch, other times the whole way. Typically when the machine is on the home switches, it moves off and back on, on my X axis where I had the problem first(now on Y too) it would just move a couple thousandths and no more and call it zero. The Y and Z axes do this correctly still.
Is there anyway to pinpoint the problem? I changed the input for the X to pin 15 rather than 12 and then the Y axis acted up,
All I did to the switches is cut the cables shorter, had them hooked up identically.
I want this machine to work right, I have some parts to make this weekend.

I'm coming in a bit late to the party here, but it seems logical to hang a scope or meter on the homeswitch lines just to see if there's any crosstalk or funny stuff going on there.
You can look at the inputs using the FKEYBIT utility depending on which pins they're on - so you can determine if the computer is seeing a signal as consistently one state or flickering.
Can't rule out software of course, but best to first check the wires.
