Homing problems

Hello.
I am making and testing the 4 axix break out board of pminmo design and so far Ive populated the board for the HOME switches and the 7805 part of the circuit, tested it with a parallel port monitor and it detects when I short the X1,X2,X3 leads. I think my BOB is going fine. I think.
Now I tried to test it with TurboCNC and went into [6] Setup [6] Home Switch Setup, I've set the home switches to ON for all 3 axis, assigned pins 11,12,13 for the home switches (on the same Pport tested with the PPmonitor), active low. But when in the [4] jog machine I press the [H] to send an axis to home it wont change from HOMING to 0.0, not a single axis. Ive tried to set Active HIGH bun no change.

My BOB lights the leds corresponding to the HOME Switches when I close them, but TurboCNC wont detect it. I have nothing else hooked up but the BOB and the +25V to the 7805 regulator.

Please Help.
Thanks in advance.

Konstantin.

Its a known bug in TurboCNC.
The H doesn't work.
I wasted a whole day on this too.
Try G28 (Home all axis) from the command line.

I am still puzzled about the Homing.
My home switches are normaly open, when I close them, I suppose TurboCNC should stop sending steps to the motor drivers, right?
I have realized that there is a new version of TCnC 4.01 and I had the v3.1 but in either version the X,Y,Z axis status show "In motion" after I iether use "Setup->Home Axes" or in MDI Mode input "G28".

Konstin,
My recommendation is to only set up ONE axis and get it to work. Then disable that axis and set up the next one and so on.
PaulC is correct in the homing function in V4 does not work properly at this time, however G28 in MDI does.
As to the action. The homing action is to move the axis toward the home position until the switch trips and then REVERSE direction and move until the switch is "untripped". Also I am not sure about the pminmo design design for the bob, but pin 11 (I think) is inverted! So that one axis may have to have be set active high instead of low! The best way to check action of the switch is in the active port monitor (F2, ALT + F2) and then trip the switch with your finger to verify action.
Personally, I use my version of 4.01 that will allow the use of G28 on a single axis in MDI mode. This was done to allow automatic tool length compensation for tool changes. It is available over at the yuho group files section.

Thanks Bubba.
I have made this one axis setup and I guess I had a little advance. I guess the source of my problems were that I used to run Tcnc from Win2000, but now in DOS mode it worked.

TCnC dropped to command line a couple of times rendering my INI files useless, does it happen often? It happened after donfiguring I/O lines and then trying to Jog the axis from the 0 point.

Thanks for the help

Konstantin.

Konstantin,
Yes, you HAVE to run TCNC in DOS, not a dos box. Also, after doing your ini changes, you need to save the ini file and reset the ports before your settings will take effect.

As for dropping to the command line, I have had that happen only once or twice and I think that was back in the beta testing days. I can't remember the last time that happened. Which version are you running? There were some bugs in V4.0 and that is why the quick jump to 4.01.
