If you select everything, then right click to bring up the menu, choose properties, then you can choose the "3d" section on the left, and enter your height in the "thickness" box. Good luck![]()
I have a 2d cad file that i am trying to make 3d. I have dl'd the trial copy of tcad and open the 2d file and switch to 3d view...
Now is there a way to select all the 2d components and just raise the z-axis?
Thx,
Rod

Thanks!
Knew it had to be simple!!!
I played with this all weekend and had no luck figuring out how to make it solid. When I add the thickness to it is only add height to the line and does not made it a solid... There must be something to do this...
Anyone recommened a good book to learn how to do this?
Thr problem comes from having lines inside of lines. If you make the outline a polyline, and remove everything else (you can bung it on a seperate layer for this), then when you make the "thickness" it will become solid. Hope that is understandable!
I really dont understand what you are saying. Here is the file i am trying to make 3d.
My idea is to have the overall object 0.5" and have the opening that the flames are comming out of 0.75 and rounded.
actually, the flames and cross would be back at .5 to cause a band in between. But the main question is how did you do it?
If you seperate the two section (flames and base) onto different layers, then use join polyline to make each section one long line, you can successfully use the thickness property. I have enclosed the new file which has the 3d shapes as Joe has posted. Hope this helps, and I hope you can figure out how to round off which section you wanted!![]()
I used Autocad.
I had to join the lines then used the extrude command.
The cross flames has three lines these need to be joined and also a bottom needs to be added.
Also the lines that make up the heart need to be joined.
In autocad to make a 3d solid from 2d the 2d must be a closed single polyline.
Not sure about turbocad sorry.
Also not sure what you mean by a "band" in the above the heart is .5 , cross/flame .75
Here is what i get... it is 3d but it is just a wall not a solid...
but the height is set like i was trying...
Yep, this happens because your lines are not joined as a polyline. What you need to do is select a set of lines - all the lines making the heart shape - then use "modify -> join polyline" then press the checquered flag at the bottom to finnish the process. You should now have one single line instead of lots of little ones. If this does not work, then Joe has mentioned needing to make sure all the lines are joined together, so you may need to add some like you do on the flames section. Hope this helps!![]()
