For those who have questions about TurboCADCAM

Hi CNCZone community,

A friend of a friend of a friend suggested that I take a look at this forum because there was a lot of discussion about TurboCADCAM. I didn't know there was THIS much discussion.

If I may introduce myself, my name is Mike Keeney. Some people know me as the father of TurboCADCAM. I'm the guy that first approached IMSI about what would eventually become TurboCADCAM. Actually, IMSI ended up asking me to spec the progam out and work with the development team on the 1st version of the program. Since that time I have had other commitments and had to step away from the project. Recently, Rob Berry, the owner of CadCourse.com and an old friend, called me and asked if I could spare some time and help them out a bit with TurboCADCAM support. Having recently sold my machine shop and being semi-retired, I was glad to help.

So, fast foward to the present and here I am. Unfortunately, I don't have the time to go back through all of the posts in this forum about TurboCADCAM, but I will try to check in here every once in a while and answer what questions I can. I'll try to take care of a few tonight, but I do have another commitment. But if you absolutely can't wait for me to stop in, please feel free to e-mail me at MKeeney@CadCourse.com and I'll try to get back to you as quickly as I can.

I'm also happy to answer any pre-sales questions anyone might have as well. I'm happy to help out here as much as I can, but in return, all I ask is that if anyone buys the program, please buy it from CadCourse.com. Or, you can just let me know and I can help you out there as well.

I look forward to meeting the folks here and helping out in any way I can.

Cheers,
Mike Keeney

Hello Mike!

I am learning the latest version right now. I bought it to run the new Tormach mill.

I have noticed a couple of things and needed verification.

It says you can edit g-code directly in the edit window, but, everytime I delete some un nessesary code and hit update it reinserts it.

for instance, the program forces the entrance syntax in the exit path.
I try to edit it to rapid out up to the clear Z plane after cutting to then move over to the next pocket, but as soon as I hit apply, the code reappeaars forcing the tool up to the initial Z height and feed rate up to the clear Z after the first pocket?

is there a work around?

Hi John,

This is what the reference manual says

"Editing G-Code

The G-code text is editable by clicking and editing directly on-screen. To accept and implement changes, click Apply."

No mention of hit update. Is this your problem or did you mean "Apply"

Best Regards
Phil

Hi Mike

Nice to see you here. I haven't talked to you for a while. What is going on with TCC? Any idea of the future?

Hello Mike, I am still in the process of building my cnc router and trying to stay ahead of my project and am very interested in turbocad/cam. I just have quick question about it. If I buy it what do I need with it? Do I still need mach3? Just mach3 and turbocad is that all I need?
