I'm attempting to add a set of indexable carbide turning tools to TurboCADCAM's Tool Store, but am unsure what values to use for some of the parameters in the "Add Tool" dialog.

Specifically, I have a set of 2" long ISO STNCL and STNCR style toolholders with 1/4" square shanks and TCMT222 carbide inserts. These inserts have a 1/4" IC, a thickness of 1/8", and a tip radius of 0.031".

I can guess what some of the parameters refer to but am unsure of others. Can anyone tell me what values to use for each of the following parameters for the above tools, please?


  • FrontAngle
  • TipAngle
  • TipRadius
  • Length
  • HeadLength
  • Height
  • Width
  • TipToBack
  • Touch X Off.
  • Touch Z Off.
