Anybody familiar with a Tree "V" Mill? It is a vertical mill with twin columns. The table runs between the columns and the head is mounted on a rail at the top of the columns. Cross travel is by moving head on the rail. Table is about 14" x 36". Clearance between columns is 16". Mill is about 5-1/2' tall. No idea when it was made. Thanks. |

| Years ago in a shop I worked in had a machine that was just like you described. I believe the machine was an old MOREY hand profiler that used hand cranks for x and y. Sort of worked like a pantagraph where you held a stylus against a template and moved the table and gantry around to mill a part. The only z axis movement was to move the spindle housing up and down with very limited travel. This old machine had the original spindle replaced by a Tree variable speed 1 1/2 hp. head mounted and True-Trace 2 axis hydraulics installed to replace the hand cranks. If I remember correctly this machine was pretty rigid. Quite ugly also, but it worked. Maybe you can find some pictures of a MOREY and see if that is what you saw. Maybe Tree built something like that, but I don't believe so. Maybe it is our old machine still floating around today LOL. |
