    My TREE 320

This Is my TREE 320 that I got off EBAY for 400 bucks. The ways are all still Flat and the screws tight. I replaced the entire electrical motion control except motors and encoders "they are still in good shape". I have it setup with a PC running MACH3 With Copley Accelus Drives. A Hitachi VFD for the spindle.
There are still a few things I need to do. I will be adding spindle feedback for rigid tapping, Flood coolant, Auto tool offset and a paint job. I have only had it up and running for a few month's and I am not the greatest machinist but this thing sure beets the pants off any Bridgeport I have ever used.
Many Thanks to all the people on CNCZONE that helped me out.

    Great work!

Great job with that Tree! 400 bucks was a bargain. How much have you put INTO it? I have a 330 Journeyman that still has the original control. It would be great to have things like rigid tapping. I don't think my machine has much memory, either, and it doesn't have the capability to drip-feed. A setup like yours would be nice to have, but I don't know that I could handle such an undertaking.

So, did you ever run the original control? The picture in another of your threads made it look like it hadn't been used all that much. Keep us posted as you make more progress on it.

The three Digital Servo drives where about 1300$ and the VFD for the spindle was about 200$. The rest of the stuff I scavenged from the original setup or had laying around the garage. The PC is just an old 2.2GHZ that I built from spare parts. So total investment so far cost me about 1900$.

I never ran it with the original control as it is in my garage and I do not have a three phase service. I still have the original control boards and servo drives if anyone has a use for them! They look like they are in good shape but I do not know for sure if they work or not.

I would have to suggest if you are going to upgrade a machine for the first time.

    Get ready to learn:

Do a lot of reading on components you will need:
Download the pdf's and read the whole thing before you consider buying.
I found the more in depth info they give you up front the less trouble you will have later on.
