Hello, I got my first machine recently and I've been trying to figure out what has been causing the z-axis to be fairly noisy. Like it's catching and jumping .005" at a time. Here's a video mainly for the noise. ‪2011 07 24 18 59 52 562‬‏ - YouTubeI've made sure that it has been thoroughly lubricated and I'm fairly certain that it is coming from the spindle shaft (don't know the proper term for it) moving up and down and not the ball screw. Any ideas on how to fix this problem or will it work it's self out with time? Thanks, |

| I don't know the model number for the machine (odd buying circumstances), but here's a pic let me know if you want a different view ![]() I don't think it's from the spindle swelling up the quill. The reason is because it happens after the machine has been sitting cold overnight and I manually lubricate the quill and traverse the z axis without the spindle rotating (although there could be poor lubrication there). |
