Journeyman 325 tree mill phase converter

All I am trying to figure out what kind of rotary phase converter i need for my 325 tree mill. I was told i need a phase converter that keeps the voltage from varing plus or minus 5%. Can anyone tell me if this is true or can i use just a regular 5 hp rotary phase converter. Help please!!!

Based on what I have read CNCs require tighter control on the voltage. But there are many phase converters that will do the job. I used a 7.5HP version from Anderson www.andersonconverters.com In therory it should run my 325 and lathe at the same time if I ever get around to making a box that allows me to plug them both in. Of coarse you don't want to start them at the same time but that would be difficult for me...

Thanks for the reply. Does the 7.5 rotary phase converter that you have work ok for your Tree mill or should i get a 10HP? What power do you have hooked up to it. Is IS 220.

The Anderson 7.5 HP that I got works very well on my Tree J325. I have the 6000 rpm motor and have replaced the Motor drive with an Emerson Spindle drive so your mileage may vary. Anderson recommends that for a cnc machine you get a converter rated at twice the horsepower and I used 3 not 5 as the HP to double. Bottom line is that I have no problem with the set up. The converter arrived with no plugs, so I needed to get a plug for the wall side and the output side and yes it is 220. I have 220 single phase in the shop and I convert to 3 phase.

I have a 10hp RPC from Amercian Rotary. Works fine so far on my Tree 325, and runs super quiet.
