VMC 1060 with Dynapath 50 control

When I turn the main switch on, everything boots up correctly(a few times I got a Watch Dog Timer alarm and had to reboot), but I can't get the machine start button to engage and pull in the KA1 relay in the back. I checked the switch and it's working. There are no alarms except for the e-stop alarm and carousel 1 not referenced. Also, there is a red light on the PIC board. Any help would be very appreciated. Note: I got it to work about 3 times but then it would kick into e-stop randomly. The first time it was engaged for about 2-3 minutes and the other times about 30 seconds. Now it won't engage at all.

    Thank You

Sounds like it could be a bad cable to the limit switches on the x/y axis. Really tough to say, you need to sit down with the prints and check all the Estop chain.

I get the watchdog timer error on mine if the room temperature is below 15 deg Celsius at startup. When I get this error the only fix is to turn off the main and reboot. Is your shop cold or humid?

Start with the power supply. Check that the voltages (+24VDC, +5VDC, +12VDC, -12VDC) are within their tolerance range. There are test points on a voltage distribution board on the CNC chassis near where the power supply is mounted. After you see that the voltages are good, switch your meter to AC and check the amount of AC ripple on the DC voltages. It should stay below 30mV.

Everything you describe can be caused by a power supply, probably with excessive ripple.

Start there, let us know which way it goes...

Thank you for all of your inputs. I have the machine working now, here is what we found. When the PIC board would go red, we noticed a red light on on of the I/O boards that we didn't notice earlier. I have a 760 Tree as well so I stole the board out of that machine and the problems went away. Now all I need is a new board part# 4204351 C 1361. Where is the best place to buy one?

    Thanks

    Tree 840 VMC

I am just getting started on my own. Got a Tree 840/24 for 4K. Hope this is a good price. The machine was running when I bought it. However, the did not have any manuals at all. Does anyone know where I can get a Dynapath Programming manusl and a parts amnual.
    Thanks,
