    Overview:

    Compare CAN 2.0

UIM24204/24208 are miniature, intelligent stepper motor controllers equipped with CAN (control area network) bus for building up local motor network. By using these motor controllers, user can control multiple motors in real-time. To communicate with these motor controllers, user needs one CAN-RS232 converter (UIM250, sold separately). The UIM250 CAN-RS232 converter communicates with the user devices/controllers through RS232 protocol using ASCII codes. Through this fashion, users can operate these controllers with minor or no knowledge about the stepper motor driving and CAN bus. The structure of the instructions (i.e. commands from user) is simple, straightforward and fault-tolerating.

UIM24204/24208 can be mounted onto 42/57/86/110 series stepper motors seamlessly through corresponding flanges. The thickness of these controllers is less than 14 millimeter. Enclosures of UIM24204/24208 are made of die-cast aluminum which provide a rugged and durable protection to the controller and improve the heat dissipation..

    Absolute Maximum Ratings
    Supply Voltage 12~40VDC

    CAN interface
DC Voltage at CANH, CANL (Note 1) ............................................................ -42V to +42V
    Transient Voltage on Pins 3 and 4 (Note 2) ....................................................-250V to +250V
ESD protection on CANH and CANL pins (Note 3) .........................................6 kV
ESD protection on all other pins (Note 3) ........................................................4 kV
Note 1: Short-circuit applied when TXD is high and low.
    2: In accordance with ISO-7637.
3: Classification A: Human Body Model.

    Storage Temperature -68F - +257F
    Operating Temperature -68F - +185F

Note: Stresses beyond those listed under “absolute maximum ratings” may cause permanent damage to the device. These are stress ratings only, and functional operation of the device at these or any other conditions beyond those indicated under “recommended operating conditions” is not implied. Exposure to absolute-maximum-rated conditions for extended periods may affect device reliability.
Electrical Characteristics (Ambient Temperature Ta = 77F)
    Supply Voltage: 12-40V DC
Output Pahse Current: Max 2A/4A/8A (1)
    Current Control: Constant, PWM control
Microstepping: Full-, Half-, Quarter- and 16th-step (2)
    Note:
    (1) Actual current is set by user RS232 instruction and is real-time adjustable
    (2) The value is read from the DIP switch at power-on, and is real-time adjustable by user RS232 instruction

To control 2 motors is evermore a problem

Using our Stepper Motor Controller with CAN 2.0 with our RS232-CANBUS Converter, it can control at most 112 motors at a time.
