Hey, we could all go over there and talk Tormach until they move it back! I hadn't posted to it, but was interested in the discussion.

...to the "Benchtop Machines" forum. It would have been nice for whoever who did the deed to at least announce it here--there was a decent amount of Tormach discussion going on...

It seems that comparing the Tormach with other machines is unacceptable on the Tormach Forum. I wonder why?
Is this the thin end?
Ooops maybe I'm not allowed to say that either!

These Forums are so vast and intimidating that I am willing to overlook some threads being misplaced. Good thing I ain't a Mod here.
I am at the point in my business where I think it would be beneficial to have a second cnc mill.
The one I built works all the time. It is able to keep up with my production pace, but would like to ease it's burden some.
For this reason, I am seriously considering a store bought mill.
I like to see threads that compare others with Tormach. It will still be a year or two before I have my second shop finished, but then I want a Tormach.![]()

If I had a product on the market and saw a direct competitor pop up, I would take it as a serious struggle too.
Phil, what's the equation for the force multiplication one gets from advertising leverage?

Thanks. I think that they simplified it just a bit. They forgot to subtract any negative leverage due to prepayment of contract months. All in all, the probability of renewal term most likely washes any negative effect of prepayment.

Phil, I doubt that Tormach influenced moving the thread, especially given that people were starting to point out how much of a poser the Mikini mill seems to be (a significant part of the claimed weight must be in the "fully cast base", for example and not in the machine structure itself). I was happy for the thread to be where it was. To be fair, Phil, you didn't start the thread as Tormach-related--it was others who did that afterwards...
Randy
Did I say I thought that Tormach had influenced the move.
I don't accept the "poser" accusation. The total weight is the total weight, clearly it included the stand as it is integral with the machine. The machine is obviously a serious attempt. A person doesn't go to all that trouble for a “quick smash and grab".
To be fair Randy I thought the comparison with the Tormach was obvious and of interest, without the need to spell it out.
I don't claim the machine is either good or bad, but I do think it is interesting enough not to be dismissed out of hand.
Just a few thoughts
Phil
