    Cool Tormach PCNC

    M05--Will not stop spindle from coasting to a stop. Machine is 3 months old. Any suggestions?

    There is No Spindle brake in the Tormach so don't expect it to stop on a dime...you may need to adjust your deceleration rate on the VFD...read your manual

    Thanks for the comeback. I would appreciate if you could tell me where I adjust the deceleration rate at. I cannot find anything in my manual. Thanks again.

    you most likely have the series 2...the first link is for the series 1 machine you may need to call Tormach for more info.
    I have a series 1 machine so I can't help you much here

    Assuming you have a Series II machine, your manual (Table 5.3 on page 9-51) tells how to read the spindle drive "trips" on the spindle controller's display. Page 9-52 tells how to use the "M" button on the controller.

    Since the controller simply dumps current into a braking resistor to stop the motor, then the resistor is possibly blown or disconnected. In that case, the controller will show "tr-OU" on the display.
