    Replacement Microstep Driver

    Hi all,

I recently had a rat in my Tormach 1100 that chewed a few wires, resulting in my Y axis driver blowing out. I fixed the wiring easily after killing the rat, but the Y axis was dead. I tried replacing the Y driver with the A driver, and everything works fine with the Y axis.

My machine is serial number 1315. I ordered a new driver from Tormach, which arrived today. The new driver is Microstep Driver 30737 (for 4 digit serial numbers like mine). The old driver was Microstep Driver DS800. They seem to be identical from the specs on the outer case. I set the dipswitches to the same settings on the old driver. When I installed the new driver, the Y axis seems to want to go, but just sort of sits there and vibrates. I found the settings for the dip switches in the back of the manual, but still no go. Of course it is Friday night and Tormach is closed for the weekend.

Any other ideas? Maybe I just got a bad driver.

Thanks in advance for any help with this.

    Charlie

This is one of those times when a phone call to Tormach will get you a quick answer.
