    R8 Collet Pin

I sheared the alignment pin off inside the spindle, just enough sticking out to cause grief.
Has anyone ever changed one? Can't really see how to get at it
    Thanks

Don't quote me but I think the 2 options are: go in with a dremel type grinder and grind off the stick-out or strip the spindle down.

Option 0 : call Tormach and ask them. They are more than willing to help technically-adept customers solve their problems.

My collets have just started getting difficult to change. I can't feel or see anything wrong with the alignment pin. Has anyone ever tried to change one?

My collets started OT stick I can use a pair of small needle nose and pull it out and polish it and push it back in use some air to blow the hole clean. DO NOT lock-tight it in that way you can replace it need be.

I've been using my Bridgeport for 10 years without a pin. Not having a pin makes tool changes a little easier. Using the Tormach with its pin, I've found the pin to be a bit of nuisance having already formed the opinion that the pin doesn't really serve a useful purpose.

And out of curiosity, I just checked the spindle nose on the bridgeport and see no evidence of any scoring -- none on the collets either. That's with a lot of heavy work done on that machine over 10 yrs.
