I forgot to say, my machine is a Series II. The Series III came out about a month after I got mine, and they went up $1,000.00. All the tooling and accessories went up too. I spent just over $14,500.00 and got pretty much all the tooling I wanted.

I am a former CNC shop owner, so I pretty much knew what tooling I wanted. But I forgot to get that I wish I had is the extention/compression tapping head. I'll get one if I ever need it.

I'll even go so far as to say, when you get your machne, send me a drawing or a CAD file and the tooling you have available, and I'll help you with your first program.

I want to see EVERYONE be successful with their Tormach machines.

Wow, thanks for the offer, Steve! Thats what I love about this community, everyone is so kind and helpful. I may just take you up on that some day. Hopefully I can learn it all and make some useful things.

I've been wondering if there is going to be a steeper learning curve with SprutCam than with the machine. Guess its all going to be a learning experience. I'm looking forward to every step of the process. I've been fascinated with CNC machining since I stumbled onto it at about 5 years ago, dreaming of having a CNC machine someday to make whatever my imagination could create.

There is a reasonably steep learning churn with sprutcam, but yu wont find a better deal on a very powerful cam program. It's way better now than when I bought it. Lucky for you, Tormach now supports it and they have some great videos.

BTW, don't worry about Tormach or some of the stories. You won't find a better machine for the money. Tormachs support is incredible... I've been a customer for going on 6 years. Trust me, you will get a quality product and they will support you!!

Yeah, looks like quite a bit of functionality to pick up on in Sprut. I'm sure Ill get the hang of it eventually. Thanks for the assurance. I think Tormach really puts time and effort into putting out a good piece of equipment for this area of the market. Some of the machines seem to have better specs but twice or three times the problems, if they ever even work. I considered the Mikini for a little while, but upon researching it a little I was promptly turned away from it.

I'm definitely excited to start seeing some videos of this lathe they are working on too. I think it should be an excellent piece of equipment and hopefully can afford to get one sometime soon after they come out.

I've had the same experience with my Tormach and the great support from Tormach.

Got an email today saying that the mill was picked up at the warehouse and should be at the local terminal by Tuesday! Now the mill is going to sit in the garage after its delivered and me until the next weekend when I can get it all put together.

Anyone have any advise on what to look for when it shows up? As far as damages are concerned. I realize a giant fork hole in the crate would be obvious but, beyond that, is there anything to look for? Or are they packaged and ship pretty well?

Oh yeah, also picked up a GMT 5" vise while they had their march madness sale going on. Think I'm going to find some soft jaws or possible make a set or two for it.

My 770 arrived in perfect condition. I would suggest you spend your evenings opening the cartons and reading the manuals and paperwork developing a plan to set your machine up, take your time and check out all the resources available such as the documents/ videos on the Tormach web site, as well as the excellent series of videos that are available on You Tube from NYCCNC on his installation of his 1100. Take your time and enjoy the moment!
    Congrats,
    Gerry

    NOW THE FUN BEGINS!!!

Rendrog18, where are you? If you are close by, I would offer to help you get it set up.

    Gerry,

Ive watched the whole NYCCNC series and I think it will help a lot. Ive read some of the manual online and think I have a plan to put the machine on the stand that doesnt include an engine hoist. We have some pallet racking, I may put up a temporary set and have the mill placed under it. Use a winch to lift up the mill from the pallet racking, put the stand underneath and set it down.

    Steve,

I live in NE PA, not sure if thats closes for you or not. I appreciate the offer greatly. Though it may be a little difficult to match up schedules. I planned on taking about a month to get the mill in place and set up, given my college work load at the end of the semester here. I'm hoping to just get it up on the stand and the computer hooked up next weekend, just to make sure it moves. Think I read you have 15 days to report any issues?

Not close at all. I am in San Clemente, CA. The offer to help you with your first program still stands though.
