    new to tormach

    Hello,
Me and a couple of friends are looking to buy one of these machines, the pcnc1100 to be exact. I was just looking for some feed back on a couple of issues we had.

    1) we live in Vancouver Canada and am interested in any feed back about shipping, time and taxes

    2) does the machine keep track of machine hours?

    3) how many hours have some of your machines been running?

    4) anyone post to the tormach using gibbscam? any problems with the 4th axis?

    Thanks for your time.

    1. That's a question for Tormach. Give them a call.

    2. The machine does not keep track of hours... but Mach3 keeps track of Machine Power On time and spindle on time.

    3. I've got over 500hrs of spindle on time on my Tormach. Had to replace a stepper driver once... other than that... no problems.

    4. No idea.

    Good luck!

    Ken

I program my Tormach with GibbsCam. If you ask real nice and PM your
e-mail address to me, I'll send you the post processor I use. I have to make a few edits in the posted file, but once you know where they are, it takes about 2 minutes.

If you don't have a ATC, you need to remove M6. The program will work fine with the M6, but the machine will wait when it M6 it will wait till you press cycle start again. When you cancel your G81, G82, G83 and so on, you have to remove the Z move from the G80 line or you will get an error message. If you don't have the ATC, you don't need to send Z home to change tools. Instead of G91G28Z0., you use M998. The only time I use G91G28 is to bring the Y axis forward to can change parts.

The machine moves way too slow to have to send it to the Z home position to change tools every time.

"but the machine will wait when it M6 it will wait till you press cycle start again" - That can be easily disabled in Mach3....

Config->GeneralConfig top-left corner, in the box labelled "Tool Change", check "Ignore Tool Change" instead of "Stop Spindle, Wait For Cycle Start".
