    Tormach PCNC1100 and Calypso MachStdMill

I'd like to use MachStdMill with a Tormach PCNC1100. MachStdMill REQUIRES Mach3 version 3.43.22 or newer but the latest Tormach software is based on Mach3 version 3.42.29. Tormach says later versions "might" work but don't know. They also said they think some later versions use a different config file format. I know there are folks on this forum that have done this. Please share your experiences!

    Thanks,
    Rich

I have used 3.43.22 and currently use 3.43.35 with no issues. The configuration file worked just fine. I heard there are issues with 3.43.45 so I would avoid that.

    Has worked great for me

I've been using the latest release of Mach3 3.043.022 (gota fix my signature) with the Mill Mach Steel Blue screen for about a year now. This latest version uses mach pulse driver 5.50.

On my PC with the Tormach ver. of Mach, I would typically see 8-10uS of Max variance during DriverTest. The latest driver version is solidly at 5uS...your milage my vary The Mach3 change log mentions many fixes since the Tormach release.

With this release and some parameter changes, I have run my 1st generation machine at a 105 IPM, all axis test for 3 days no stop. I checked the Work Offset position several times and it never missed a step. I backed it off since then to 85 IPM and has been trouble free.

Thanks dbrija and btu44! Very helpful.

So if I wanted to run 3.43.22 with my Tormach, I assume I would install Mach3 3.43.22 and then use the Tormach XML configuration file. Is that right? Would I have to merge the standard Mach3 3.43.22 configuration file with the Tormach file? Same question for MachStdMill. I haven't looked yet but I'm assuming there are parameters unique to each file that would need to be in the final configuration file.

Any other steps in getting 3.43.22 up and running with the Tormach?

    Thanks again!

    Rich,
Tormach asked me to not post details on making these sorts of changes.
Feel free to PM me...Tormach's cool with that.
