    Y-axis not moving

    Hello,

I was just moving my table around and all of the sudden the Y-axis stopped moving. I checked movement on the other axis with my jog shuttle and they are working fine. This happened when I was trying to reference all axis on the machine.

I can hear the motor turning, but the table doesn't move with it. If I push on the table in the same direction while driving the motor with the jog shuttle, I can get the table to move, but any disturbance in the movement and the table stops moving again.

Is my y-axis slipping? I am afraid of damaging my machine.

Thank ahead of time for any advise.

Sure sounds like it is slipping. There is a clamp on shaft coupler on the Y axis (behind the machine) that has probably come loose. The motor mount has a cover on it. Take that cover off and you will find the clamp on coupler. There are a pair of hex head screws that clamp the coupler to the shafts. They likely need to be tighted. I would highly recommend NOT running the Y axis until you can get back there and see what is happening.

As I recall, the Y axis also has a spider shaft coupling on it to handle misalignment. You might want to check it while you have the cover off.
