    Noise

I am finishing up my home shop and getting it ready for 220V for hopefully a new PNC-1100 soon. However, last night I was not able to sleep because someone at the church behind us was grinding tree roots at midnight! The police are very helpful in those situations.

But made me think about this new CNC machine. I know with some of my woodworking tools I would not use late at night (after 10:PM). My shop is over 60ft from the house and further from any neighbors. Only thing behind me is a huge parking lot and church.

So, is this machine going to create a lot of "outside" noise from inside a cynderblock workshop? Would I be able to let it run overnight if needed?

I doubt it will create as much noise as a tractor and grinder, but as I am waiting for approval from the city I figured I might get some info from previous owners. I have read on this forum that some say it is fairly loud.

The mill can be noisy if you pick the wrong cutting parameters and get chatter or squeal But it can be pretty quiet on most ops. My Tormach is in the basement of our townhome and the next door neighbor has never complained about the noise, though I frequently work in the late evening and sometimes as late as 2:00 am.

Thanks for the info, sounds like in my location it would not be an issue at all.
