How to hold Galcern FM45

Would this straight shank holder with a TTS conversion kit work?

I just mounted mine in the 3/4" master collet and manually touched off. So far for me, surfacing has always been a mostly manual operation with simple MDI commands and no need of CAM.

Jason -

You can always use the TTS Tool Conversion Kit (part #30675) to epoxy a TTS ring to any tooling with a 3/4" shaft.

Of course, it's just a ring with a little flange on one side, so you could make your own...

I modified the ¾” shaft of a Vardex thread milling insert tool for use as a TTS by cutting a groove for a circlip, machining a ring, Loctiting the ring on the shaft, and then facing the ring square with the shaft held in a 5C collet on my lathe.

Thanks guys, was hoping Glacern had a straight shank option but all is see is R8 and its out of stock, wonder how quality the Enco piece is.

Good looking mod Don. Any concerns with the circlip taking the load put on it from the draw bar? I always pictured that as being close to 1,000 lbs.

So far I have many hours on the circlip mod and have had zero problems. I used a Nikcole insert grooving tool to make the groove for the circlip and almost an interference fit for the ring. The circlip contacts almost 100% around with almost no overhang. This mod has worked extremely well for me. YMMV
