Hi Freddy,

You will really like the added precision the probe gives to most operations.

The included Tormach probe routines work pretty well, but NEED to be updated to include more functionality. Are you guys listening??

Be sure and download the "Circular Boss" wizard that Maurice Proulx
posted - I use that routine several times every week. Thanks Maurice!

Many of the "Newfangled Wizards" (bolt circles, pockets, grooves etc.) use the center of a circular part as a starting point - the probe makes this super easy and accurate.

I can't imagine having a CNC machine without a probe.

One caveat: the probe feed speed will be the last "F" number used. This can be frightening if the feed is set too high as the Probe ($$$) approaches warp speed towards your part.

I calibrated the probe at F= 6"/minute - that's what I like to use for general probing.

I made a probe holder from a PVC pipe "T" and have it mounted to the front of the electrical cabinet. I cut the plug off and wired the probe directly into the Tormach - the armored cable bolts through the door. I used the left over plug/wire for my electronic tool setter (see previous posts).

I use the probe a LOT!

Best regards;

Art Pentz

Thank's for the info. Do you have the Tormach probe or another model?
