discovery while cleaning tormach | | hi all
i have a tormach that i look after, there a wonderful machine.
anyhow while cleaning i discovered some little quirks
firstly the x-axis limit switch stoped working. this had happened before so i took the opportunity to fix the problem. after a good half hour of thinking i discovered what i was doing.
i had extended the z-axis to its limit and pushed the reset button no worries.
i then was moving the x-axis and the x limit switch was not stoping the table.
it turns out because i had not backed of the z-axis the x limit switch was unable to send a pulse (or however the circuits read it) to the brains of the machine. the limit swiches share a common ground as far as i can tell.
the important thing to watch out for is that if one doesn't back off an axis to reliese the limit switch after pushing the reset button one could over run one of the other axis.
the other discovery was a little bit of surface rust under the slide covers.
if you have trouble with coolant mixes etc (i loose a lot to evapouration in my shop) then its possible for rust to get on your slides/bed. to fix i just remove the covers every few months and cover with oil. i havn't had any trouble since.
hope these tips help
