Warning accepted, Just Gary. But my innoculation against major purchases (lack of income, that is) is current so I'll be happy to see the video.

I did just find the label from the pop-bead hose that I used for the vacuuming. It's this one. I had gotten it many years ago but the price is still pretty good. I should have gone with Loc-Line for my coolant hose/nozzles too. It has a very smooth articulation, whereas the Snapflow (marked "Jeton", a Taiwanese brand) I used recently has a lot of stiction and does not adjust smoothly.

Randy -

Dang. I didn't know about your innoculation. That's too bad. Those shots hurt, but they generally don't last a whole lifetime, at least. Any good prospects?

You are in a position to maybe take in some prototype machine work, I would suppose. I see RFPs for them when I scroll up through the forums. Also, I know a place that will farm out some of their machine work if you want to bid it. PM me if you are interested.

Regards,

- Just Gary

P.S. I guess that also explains why you were up so early this morning!

Thanks for the suggestion, Just Gary. I will look (I just have this and the Project Log pages bookmarked and jump right in, and never see the board as a whole.) I was laid off a year ago last month, and have had a couple of contract jobs since (but not since October). In the last job I did some prototyping of waterjet machine mods for the place I was working at. I wish I could do "businessing" as well as I do engineering, so I wouldn't need to be looking for a new employer...

New video bares all!

Randy -

Here ya go. I talked my wife into running the video camera so I could post this for my "imaginary friends" on the internet... It runs just under 6 minutes. I'm sorry for the cheesy audio at the ends; my video conversion program put that on, and I was too lazy to change it.

Enjoy.

Thanks for the video, Just Gary, and thanks to your wife too! Your machine moves very fluidly when cutting the plaque--you must have put a good radius on all the corners. I really like watching that.

And you're right that you should have replaced the leadin/leadout music. With the pace of your deburring and chip vacuuming, something like the Sabre Dance or Flight of the Bumblebee would have been much more appropriate.
