I withdraw the accusation.

That is indeed fair, Phil. And I have since seen the Mikini press release where they specifically position themselves between Tormach and Haas by name.

I still think it is disingenuous for Mikini to compare their machine's weight, cast base and all, against the Tormach's machine-only weight and imply that it is an apples-to-apples comparison. But that's why I throw things at the TV when certain advertisements come on.

I'll still be willing to go down and have Mikini show me how good their machine is in person and make a fair report if that's not the only reason I'd be making a 6+ hour round trip.

I actually plan on doing that as soon as I scrape the dough together to make the purchase. I am still a bit torn though between the purchase of something like the tormach and the mekini versus a used VMC. There are certainly some costs I am taking into account, such as shipping versus sales tax (which Tormach is winning BTW). But if I could find an older VMC in good shape that would fit under my garage, allow me to add a 4th axis at a reasonable expense and include some tooling... well I am torn.

Why doesn't the moderator open a " Mikini" forum?

Because Mikini’s advertising leverage is currently zero dollar-months, I guess.

I think that there is one already--it's called "General Metal Working Machines" (I would have put the Mikini thread there instead of "Benchtop Machines!) I think that a specific machine only gets a forum when it has a proven track record and many users (Hardinge Lathe forum is less than a year old itself...)

Guys, I mean no disrespect, but come on. The thread got moved to another forum which happens often, not just in the tormach thread. And in this case, rightly so. It had nothing to do with tormach's. Not even a comparison thread such as the multiple IH vs Tormach vs Syil threads that are throughout the Tormach subforum. And about Tormach paying the rent and getting preferential treatment, I am now looking at two ad's, one for Novakon, the other for IH, and they are in this forum. So how does that work if Tormach gets to pick and choose what goes in their area. That whole idea is ridiculous.

No quibble, pzzamakr1980. The only aspect that I was disappointed with was that the thread was moved with no warning, when it did contain an ongoing Tormach-related discussion (go read it! ) But I've re-established that ("Controlling the Proxxon auxiliary spindle") so no worries from my end.

And I myself have brought up Mikini in another thread in Tormach forum this very day, so someone needs to spank me, I guess!

What kind of price is the new mill advertised at and what does that include? I bought my Tormach due to this and the Yahoo BBS. Anybody can put one of these together but the selling points that hooked me are the same as alot of you. Attention to detail and inspection at the factory as well as customer service after the sale and after the warranty has expired. I have had two issues with my mill and one phone call solved each of the problems.

The guys from tormach seem to listen to the consensus on these boards. I asked about a load meter last year around this time and if one could be hooked up. Either they had one in the works or took the idea and ran. If they had just gotten a 12X36 lathe out the door I would be happier.

I wish I could say that with my Haas TL-1. I have had a software bug that the factory is working on for over a month without a single word back. It kind of loses position for no apparent reason if you do not watch it very close. That was one of the reasons to upgrade to CNC so that after I proved a program I would not have to babysit it.

Pressurerelief
I wish Tormach would come out with a CNC 12x36 or 13x40 lathe also.

Well Randy, I am going to have to abstain from spanking you. I suggest you ask your wife or gf. . Either that or feel bad about starting the new thread and we can call it good.
