| Deluxe Stand and Tormack 1100 and interference with holding fixtures Question about Deluxe Stand and Tormack 1100 1. How close to the column can the back edge of table on the Tormach go, is the minimum distance zero? 2. With the Deluxe Stand what is the distance from the inside of the acrylic insert to the front edge of the table. I am trying to figure out what size vise will fit on the 1100 PCNC with the Deluxe Stand. Also it looks like the 8 inch rotary table motor would interfer with using the acrylic insert? Thanks David |

| Here is a picture of a Kurt D688 http://www.kurtworkholding.com/workh.../anglock_d.php mounted on a Tormach. Overhang in the rear is ~1inch. The hex shaft protrudes though a 1.25” slot cut in the acrylic shield. The Kurt D688 has 6.8” opening. The Kurt D688 vise protrudes about an inch out the rear of the Tormach table when using Kurt D50-33A step keys (11/16 x 5/8) http://www.kurtworkholding.com/acces.../vise_keys.php mounted in the center T slot. In this case the vise can hit the column when moving to the last inch of positive Y travel. IMO, the advantages of the Kurt D688 vise (e.g. 6” jaw width, 8.8” opening, GrooveLock® jaw http://www.kurtworkholding.com/acces...roove_lock.php ,etc) far outweigh the one inch loss of Y travel. I liked the Kurt D50-33A step keys (11/16 x 5/8) so much that I mounted a 5X7 angle table on ˝” tooling plate with the vise keys mounted same as way as the Kurt vise. That way the vise and angle table can be easily interchanged and line up perfectly with X axis. Also the slot in the acrylic shield allows the vise to be loaded with the shield in place. see: ![]() Don Clement Running Springs, California Last edited by Don Clement; 05-26-2007 at 05:08 PM. |
