4th axis fun I set up my 4th axis and was playing and making some test cuts. This is a pistol barrel with some helical flutes. Scott

I have a manual 6" phase II RT for my manual mill. I bought an 8” 4th axis RT from Tormach. The 8" RT has some advantages such as a MT3 taper that can accept an MT ¾ adapter so TTS tooling works with the 8”, the 6” has a MT2 taper hole. Also the tailstock for the 8" has an adjustable height and angle for cutting tapers, the six inch tailstock is fixed height and tailstock angle is not adjustable. The 4th axis 8” only weighs 20 lbs more and costs only ~$100 more, so the 8" 4th axis was my decision. Don Clement Running Springs, California

BTW For my 6" RT on the manual mill I rigged up an adjustable tailstock using an old Sherline tailstock and some tooling plate. Don

Yikes That's great! I am currently set up with a Hardinge ASM (all working) to make multiple parts, a 13*60 lathe and a knee type milling machine. Based on what I've seen, the Tormach PCNC is my next purchase. Any suggestions about the purchase?
