    Default Way oil question

I am trying to bootstrap for my first machine. Do I have to use the wayoil Tormach sells or will a general ISO VG 68 oil work?

Many folks recommend an actual way oil, which contains additives that are beneficial for that purpose. That's your call, but for the $30 or so a gallon of Mobil Vactra No. 2 costs at McMaster or Grainger, why take a chance? A gallon will last most hobbyists a year or two or better.

$22 for Mobile Vacta 2 if you catch it on sale at MSC Direct.... and it is always on sale.
