Default Press Release: Tormach Joins Windows Embedded Systems Partner Program

Tormach Joins Microsoft Windows Embedded Systems Partner Program
The new partnership will bring value, quality to customers

Waunakee, WI, May 4, 2009 – Tormach, LLC announced today that it has joined the Microsoft Windows Embedded Partner Program. The new relationship with Microsoft will give Tormach access to Windows Embedded solutions and technologies, improving software solutions and lowering development costs for the PCNC 1100 mill and future products.

Windows Embedded technology will give Tormach the ability to maintain industry leading quality while reducing project costs and lead times. The agreement allows Tormach to customize software for product offerings and adapt to the ever-changing computer architecture landscape. As a Windows Embedded developer, Tormach will be able to provide specialized applications and platforms that enhance performance, functionality, and user-friendliness.

“We are really excited about the benefits to our customers as a result of the partnership with Windows Embedded,” says Greg Jackson, President of Tormach. “This agreement allows Tormach to concentrate our product development and bring affordable and innovative CNC solutions to our customers at a faster pace.”

According to Jackson, the main reason for partnering with Windows Embedded was dependability. “Our customers are making an investment in our products and look to us for long term value. Windows Embedded products carry a 10 year life cycle, far different than the consumer products. Our investment in these technologies will help us ensure that we can support our customers far into the future and improve the value of our products to our customers.”

The Microsoft Windows Embedded Partner Program is a strategic worldwide program focused on providing partners with increased business opportunities, market awareness and technology advice. If your company is already a member of MSPP, the Primary Contact must make sure that his or her
Windows Live ID is associated with your company’s MSPP profile.
Please note that all members of your team that wish to access the Windows Embedded Partner Program Resource Center
(PaRC) will need to associate with your company’s MSPP profile. However, they cannot access PaRC until after the Primary
Contact associates his or her Windows Live ID with MSPP and sets up your company’s membership in the Windows

Oh no, Just Gary! You'll just start receiving calls Hello. This is the second warning that the factory warranty on your mill might have expired...

I don't know what they could be planning, but with that new spindle load meter I would like to see a dynamic feed speed utility. Kind of like cruise control for your mill. If you are running 18 IPM with a 1/2" end mill at 50% step over and the mill passes into a full width cut somewhere and starts to stall the spindle the mill would back off the feed to keep RPM within whatever % of actual you want. Once in the clear then resume the previous IPM. Probably wouldn't be of much use with a 1/32" end mill.

In CNCWest Magazine last year there was an article about a utility for somehow connecting to a VMC with your Blackberry to observe status and G code.

    The .PDF is here.

Maybe they should focus on fixing the leak problem with the stand first.

The connection to MS might be the migration of the CS to Windows 7.

Does anybody know if there are control systems out there are doing this now? My Okuma will alarm out or halt at programmable load levels, but the Haas mills don't even seem to have that level of functionality, much less dynamic/adaptive feed control.
