Default Slant pro for Gunsmiths ?

    Hi folks,

Sorry I used the search function but came up with nothing.

How well do you think the Slant lathe would handle the likes of threading barrel tenons and chambering ?

    Cheers.

I prefer to chamber and ream on a manual lathe. Its a feel thing for me and not sure Id trust a cnc to do it. But JMHO.

But big mfgs do it all the time so something to be said there. I just learned “old school” I guess and prefer it.

I would think one would be handy for making custom consistent size and round - rounds . I have watched guys mic bullets for size and separate out into sets based on weight and size, Don't know why but I guess when you want to send one a long ways down range consistently. Everything makes a difference.

I was looking at one really hard for GS work but there are a lot better machines for it. I use an Automate and a Doosan now and am very happy with them.

Thanks Sin, I was looking at those Automates with the live tooling it makes it a different animal all together than the slant and probably a need to have with production parts
