When I have a job with a ton of pieces I'll make 2 fixtures that hold multiple parts. That way, I have one fixture in the machine running while the other is on the bench being reloaded.
Stumbled across this when looking for something totally different.
Rotary Vise Workholding System
Kind of neat for a small production setup I guess. Loose quite a bit of Z axis but that's not usually an issue compared to X

You can buy GOOD PARTS or you can buy CHEAP PARTS, but you can't buy GOOD CHEAP PARTS.
Hi, I'm interested in this topic as a pallet(s) can be just a piece of machined all over steel plate that you bolt work onto for exact location, and then hold the plate in a common vice.....the vice is already set up with work offset values so you get XYZ zero location every time.......and one or more pieces of steel plate cost cents.
Sometimes it's difficult to hold an odd shaped piece of work like a casting in a vice to get the exact presentation for machining, but a pallet can be machined to hold practically anything.
I used to do this with an angle plate for some jobs I once did.
Ian.
....oops, double post.
