    Default New Rapid Turn Installed

Finally completed the installation of my new RT. Instructions were clear and accurate, no problems whatsoever and the machine works great. I'm using the WildHorse switch for the VFD keys but wish there were a switch available for the motor's power cable. It's not difficult to change, just an annoyance.

Plenty of switches available. Just find a two position, three pole rotary switch. I recommend a Kraus-Naimer CA10 A233, but since this switch is seldom operated, and never under load, you could also just use a cheap knockoff.

At least one other individual here posted previously about adding a switch like this.

    Tim,

Thanks, I'll look into that. Having to fetch a ladder, climb up, then switch cables is beyond Mickey Mouse

What is the wildhorse switch you referred to for the VFD key?

It's pricey but worth it. It's a small box into which you insert the Mill key and the RT key. They are switch selected to a cable with a key that goes into the VFD. Makes it unnecessary to open the door to access the VFD. Should be easy enough to make one but I opted to buy it ready made.

When I saw your original post I checked the wild horse website but didn't see anything like that. Is it from the folks who make the wild horse probe, or someone else?

Try SmartStick Controller for the VFD configuration switcher. I haven't tried it since a 770 uses the same configuration for the spindle and for the Rapidturn.

Thanks, I did look at that one, it is nice, but somewhat pricey for a switch.

Sorry about the repost of this. I thought the other one listed above was the Wildhorse one.

Again, sorry - carry on and go make some chips!

    This one is also available.
