Excellent idea! My bins are getting unruly in my tool box.

So, like most on here I've been storing my TTS tools in my Harbor Freight tool chest. Which is okay except that the dividers I have limit how many tools I can get per drawer and they roll around and bump into each other.
Well, I figured I needed a little Saturday project and created some horizontal holders I've been thinking about using some 1/4" ABS plastic I had laying around. I also glued them into the base plate slot using ABS glue and it worked out GREAT!!!!
This is what it looked like before:
This is the new configuration - 33 tool slots per drawer - 3 tools per caddy:

very clever. And since I have quite a few sheets of black ABS lying around, I think I will give that a shot.

Love that USB hub too!
Good idea but I see a lot of wasted space. I have about 40 tool holders so I'd have to use 2 drawers.
You can buy GOOD PARTS or you can buy CHEAP PARTS, but you can't buy GOOD CHEAP PARTS.

Nice, the way those fit in a shallow drawer.
One of my first projects was TTS tool holders made from scrap pieces of trex decking
Ouch! upside down! works for ER 20 collets too.

Very cool! I have to store mine in the bottom drawer, as I keep mine in the wooden block like oneineight does. Talk about wasted space. By laying the tools down, longer tools will fit in the shallower drawers. This then frees up the bottom deep drawer for fixtures, cordless drills or other tall things.
Smokediver, I don't think it's wasted space (for you) at all. It fits ALL YOUR TTS holders spaced out evenly in one place. Exactly as intended with your design goal.
Sure, It might be wasted space if you had more holders. But the beauty of the 3-piece caddy is you can reconfigure to your heart's content. I suspect that you'll probably make a 2-caddy as needed to fit everything and again making it perfect FOR you.
Great design! Very clean. Thanks for sharing the ideas! That's why I love reading these forums.
Looking forward to seeing the Fusion360 files!
