In a brain-fart moment this morning, I forgot to check the mill before referencing the table.
The vise handle got wedged between the vise and the front of the Chip Pan. (Photo 1)
Well, I heard a loud BANG!, and the vise handle flew off.
After realizing what had happened, I saw that the vise shaft was bent, (Photo 2) and the chip pan unscathed.
HA!!!
Seems kinda nuts that the vise shaft would bend, and the sheet metal would come out unharmed.
Vise still functions, just cranks wobbly now.
Crazy.
That's OUTSTANDING LOL! Glad to know that I'm not the only one that has done stuff like that. I too am really surprised by the degree of that bend. The handle must have applied leverage at just the right point. I am impressed.
My chip pan has a little bow in it from doing the same thing. My GMT 6" vise was not phased by it though.
Another thing on the long list of how a machine can be crashed.
