    Default Spares list

I am looking at buying a 1100 that has to be shipped to South Africa. Not only is the shipping expensive it takes about 8 weeks.
With this in mind I was wondering is there are any spares that I should order with the machine as getting parts sent to me would take a least 4 weeks to arrive.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Suggest moving to the US? Otherwise I can't think of any spares other than tool holders.

If you purchase the power draw bar, buy 2 extra sets of Belleville Washers. You don't want to be down for four weeks because of a $3.00 part.

That is the only problem I have had with mine in the 19 months I have had it.

Be sure you have plenty of way oil and coolant.

Other than that, just runn the hell out of it. You are going to love it.

You can buy GOOD PARTS or you can buy CHEAP PARTS, but you can't buy GOOD CHEAP PARTS.

Thanks for the advice all. I had put some of the Belleville washers on my list after reading some of the posts here .
Will check out the spares part kit as well.

Depends on the consequence of a 4 week shut down, It could be logical to have anywhere from a complete spare machine to zero spares, or anywhere in between.

If the mill is critical to the business, buy the spares set that someone else suggested. I'd also add a main control board, a couple stepper motors, a couple drives, and a spare spindle if none of those are included in the set.

I'm curious about the Belleville failures - do they actually break, or do they just lose their stiffness and you start getting tool slippage?

A breakdown would not be critical, but would be a major inconvenience because it takes so long to ship parts to South Africa. That said I now have a better idea of what spare part to buy with my initial order.

Looks like no one else has mentioned it, but Tormach can also advise you on a spare parts list for someone in your location and circumstances. They might suggest adding a few items that aren't in the standard kit.
