    Default cycle start

Anyone rig up a remote cycle start button for pathpilot.
I had a bit of a production type job and hated grabbing the mouse with chips and coolant on my hands.

I contacted Tormach if they made a usb button and they said they don't recommend it.

I should have made a holder for the mouse and a lever to tap the button.

I've been really happy with Milfast E stop kit.

It can be done directly, using a spare pin on the 5i25, I would not recommend USB, but it could be done, depends if the time to do it is worth it.

I second the MillFast products! I have the basic three button version, the four button with Estop one, the tool setter and the joystick. Outstanding quality and plug and play ease.

I built a little box something like the Millfast unit. It is mounted beside the door on my enclosure. Three buttons -- Cycle Start, Pause, Reset -- andt uses an Arduino Leonardo to generate the required keyboard shortcut keystrokes. I already have a remote eStop from Tormach so it seems silly to duplicate it. Total cost for parts is less than $50.

Would an old USB Pokeys55 which is an USB keyboard emulator work with pathpilot?

You can program each pin as a keyboard shortcut.

Probably. All that you need is to generate the shortcut keys for Cycle Start (alt-R), coolant on (alt-F), etc.

Thanks for the info. I'll probably try the Arduino Leonardo box.

This was probably the only production type job I will do though.

I have no knowledge of the creator nor how well it works but the unit at EntirelyCrimson has a nice looking package.
