    BENFAB'S new TM 1 build ...

Ok so after months of research, lots of cold ones, many many phone calls and endless hours of reading the posts here.... I have jumped right in and started to build. The whole thing starts with a TM1 kit. I ordered my kit about a year ago, upon it's arrival I quickly realized that although being a great diy kit. It was not going to be exactly what I needed for my shop. Sooooo.... I started changing the design to suit my needs and before long realized that I would be tossing all the bracketry and hardware from the kit. I started off with a water table design that worked best for me, which included a 187.16 gal table capacity. A 250 gal resevoir tank mounted below the table and a 2 hp swimming pool pump to flood the table from below. I then changed the whole cam follower deal to 15mm linear rails on both the X and Y axis, added the torch height control, plate marker, and laser cross hairs attachment from Torchmate. I changed the single side drive with jack shaft to dual side drive and mounted all the drives on floating mounts also using 15mm rails. Didn't like the whole " bolt ,nut and pivot thing".
I built the gantry entirely from aluminum added the computer and control center to the left side. So here it is guys, tell me what you think !!!

    Thanks , Todd

Very nice build, by the looks of it you're set-up to cut some serious plate. Have you had it runnin yet?

I noticed the double spring set-up on your y-axis. Be interesting to see how that works for you. We used a similar set-up on our router table, but we went with a pivot and spring set-up. Not sure how to link previous threads to other threads, but we're under the DIY table build "Med-Pac new machine" quite a ways back.

Looks Good! Have you had any problems with the long pinon shaft on the Y?
