    Question about Torchamate CAD.

This question is more out of curiosity that anything. When I received my torchmate 1 kit last year, along with the CD's for the machine operating system and the CAD cd there was a little 5" x 7" users guide book, labeled Profilelab version 7.1. This is basically an overview of its features. I take it that the actual cad program is Profilelab.
Then when you open the cad program and go to, help-Index, you get the Index screen with a title of Signlab version 7.1 on it. Are they one in the same. Why the two different names.
Then if you Google Signlab, or Profilelab, you come up with a lot of links to Cadlink Technology Corporation. Is Cadlink the parent company of both. It looks like signlab is used a lot in the vinyl cutting industry. Were these two programs just adapted for plasma. Has anyone else wondered about this also? Thanks

Signlab made the CAD program I believe, then Torchmate deleted the parts not necessary for plasma, and came up with a truncated version. The TMCAD program will do all you want/need it to do EXCEPT put text on a curve. That's an extra upgrade to the program, which can be done with Corel if you have it.

    This is correct.

Torchmate CAD is a version of Profile Lab software, which was designed as a vinyl cutting software. We adapted the software to use as a 2d CAD program, mainly for it's ability to generate Tool Paths, perform Nesting Procedures, and Output Machine code for multiple tools directly. The book that it comes with is the encyclopedia for every feature associated with the Profile Lab software, a lot of which is unavailable in Torchmate CAD.

I recommend reading the Torchmate CAD 7.1 users guide if you want to learn how to do something in the CAD software.

    Thanks for the reply's.
I have made a hard copy of the TM CAD 7.1 Guide, as well as the previous TM CAD Operations & User Guide, 187 pages dated 2006 to study. Both are helping me to learn the many features the CAD program can perform. Pretty amazing stuff.
